It is an individual competition, although a specific category is enabled to participate in pairs. UCI Elite runners may only participate individually.
The test will be held on February 1, 2, 3 and 4, 2024 in the province of Huelva, according to the technical and sporting regulations of the UCI.
Weekend Option. As an option, the possibility of registering only for the last 2 stages is offered on February 3 and 4.
This modality is excluded from UCI points and awards and can only be competed individually with the only 2 categories: absolute men’s and absolute women’s.

1. Registration

In order to participate in this race you must register by filling out all the required fields in the form and pay the registration fees.
The registration period opens on October 2, 2023 and ends on January 12, 2024, or until registration is sold out.
Participants must be in possession of a federated cycling competition license, issued by a national cycling federation approved by the UCI. Cycling or other sports licenses are not accepted for this race.
Those who, on January 30, 2024, do not have a competitive cycling license, must apply for a temporary federation license, which carries accident insurance, for the days they participate in the race.
This temporary license involves an additional cost of €10 per day and allows you to compete in the corresponding category, with the same rights as any other participant, except for the specific conditions that affect the UCI Elite categories. The license can be processed and paid at the time of registration or at the time of collecting the bib number.
Participants who wish to compete in the UCI Elite categories, men and women, must have an annual cycling competition license. These compete for UCI points and cash prizes and are strictly governed by UCI rules.
In accordance with the regulations of the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation (RFEC), foreign participants who hold a cycling license not processed by the RFEC must have written authorization from their national federation certifying that their insurance is valid in Spain.
This document must be presented to the stewards in order to collect the number. Runners of Portuguese nationality are exempt from applying for this permit.
In case of disqualification or withdrawal from the competition, the registration fee will not be refunded, in whole or in part.

For returns once the registration payment has been made, two types of insurance are established:

  • BASIC with a price of €17. This insurance covers the refund of 100% of the registration requesting the return of the amount until January 22, 2024. From that day on, no amount will be returned in the event of withdrawals or cancellations of any kind.
  • COMPLETE with an amount of €35. This insurance covers the refund of 100% of the registration requesting the return of the amount until January 31, 2024. From that day on, no amount will be returned in the event of withdrawals or cancellations of any kind.

To use the insurance, send an email to devoluciones@laleyendadetartessos.com.

6. Race procedure

This competition follows the general regulations of the UCI and the specific MTB regulations of the UCI. The results of the stage and the general classification will be published on the race
website.

There are different exit boxes depending on the category and general classification of the test.
On the first day, the starting boxes are arranged, first, with the male and female UCI Elite participants, followed by the M30, M40, GM categories and ending with the couples. Inside the boxes, the runners will be placed according to the UCI classification. From the second stage, the order within the drawers will be established according to the general classification.
The exit boxes will open 15-20 minutes before the departure time depending on the stage.
Five (5) minutes before the starting time, no participant is allowed access to the starting grid, and they must be placed at the back of the corresponding starting group. The starts will be staggered with a few minutes difference between the different boxes, which will be specified by the judges of the test.

No participant can start once the official start has been given, unless a marshal authorizes it.
Each passage control, refreshment point, departure and arrival has a maximum passage time, at which time the service closes. The time to reach these points will be explained in the participant guide.

Any illicit help results in the disqualification of the participant. Help outside the technical areas is not authorized and will result in disqualification. Participants who are no longer officially classified (due to having exceeded the checkpoint time or any other reason) can continue participating in the race recreationally (it will not enter the classification), although they will be able to continue in the race and take the exit in the next stage, as long as they do not influence the development of the competition. Failure to comply with this rule means expulsion from the test, without the possibility of continuing.

To access the technical areas, you must be in possession of the federal license and collect the corresponding accreditation. Accreditations to provide support in the technical area must be requested from the organization in the section for this purpose. Previously, they must have registered via email info@laleyendadetartessos.com or press@laleyendadetartessos.com.
Unauthorized people and vehicles will not be able to access the technical areas.

7. Output neutralized

For safety reasons the output of any stage can be neutralized. The race director will lead the start with an official race vehicle. Once the race director announces the start of the stage, participants can begin competing.
When the official vehicle has reached the end of the neutralized section, it will stop to the side to indicate the end of the neutralization.
During the neutralized start, overtaking the race director’s vehicle is prohibited.

Abandoning or shortening the route marked by the organization will result in anything from a time penalty to disqualification, at the discretion of the organizing committee.
All participants must stay within the natural limits of the paths, without making cuts or taking shortcuts.

9. Provisioning

The refreshment areas will be properly signposted along the route. In these, you will find everything necessary to cover the needs of the runners between the stages in terms of food and hydration.
Team supply points will be the only points where mechanical and supply assistance will be allowed, unless otherwise indicated.
It will not be possible to access the refreshment area without having registered as assistance (via email info@laleyendadetartessos.com or press@laleyendadetartessos.com) and having collected the accreditation in the area indicated for this.

10. Marking

The race will be marked with direction and distance arrow signs.
The organization will provide the tracks to the participants a week before the test.

11. Non-cyclable sections

The marshals and the race director may decide if any section of the route is not cyclable. In this case, the route may be diverted at other points planned by the organization.
If, for some reason, it is not possible to finish a stage, the final time will be that of the last checkpoint passed.

12. Dropouts

Any participant who abandons the race must inform the organization as soon as possible.
Failure to report the abandonment may lead to expulsion from the competition.

The stewards and race management reserve the right to disqualify any participant who does not respect the environment or private property that they encounter during the race, and to expel them without the possibility of continuing to participate or to sanction them with a penalty time in the competition in case of throwing wrappers, empty drums or any type of garbage on the course.

21. Wardrobe

The organization will provide participants with a basic wardrobe service for storing bags with objects of little value (jackets, raincoats, etc.).
