THE ROUTES SET OUT BELOW ARE FOR GUIDANCE ONLY AND ARE SUBJECT TO CHANGE BEFORE THE RACE
ETAPA 1 – THE ROCKS, THE PINES AND THE BEACH
Departure from the town of Cartaya, in the first part of the stage we will pass through the endurance sections of Cartaya, Arroyo Gordo, Las Madamas, El enduro Clásico, more than 18km of continuous ups and downs full of stones where the riders must call upon their best technical skill and take care of the mechanics in a terrain of pure strength. In the second section of the stage we will pass along the famous trails of the pine forests of Cartaya. In that second part, the speeds will be very high and the paths´ strategic positioning will be key.
The final section will run from the Pinos de Cartaya to the Rompido Golf Course over greens and very fast terrain to the finishing line on the seafront of El Rompido, right on the Beach.
STAGE 2 – THE LIGHT OF ANDEVALO
Departure from the to the locality of El Granado, strong firebreak gradients will mark this beginning of the stage where the peloton will be shattered into a thousand pieces.
We will climb up to the wind farm and from there we will head to the Portuguese border where we will tie up from La Laja el Camino mountain pass; spectacular kilometres along the river bank where we will arrive in Sanlucar de Guadiana, the last asphalted stretches will be an added element of hardness. Its famous climb to the Castle of San Marcos and downhill stretch of Los Burros will be a decisive point of the stage.
The final stretch of the stage will be uphill and single tracks with changes of level and natural rock gardens, where the strongest will come to the fore but the most technically skilled will have the final say to win the stage until the finishing line.
STAGE 3 – THE QUEEN
Starting from Valverde del Camino along very fast sections, but with gradual inclines. The riders arrive at the “ Via Verde Minera” (the Mining Greenway). From this point on, the views of the famous mine cuts will fill our gaze and they will be impressive, and the rocks will play a key role in the scenarios, as it will take technique and a sure hand on the handlebars to avoid the typical breakdowns caused by damaged wheel rims and punctures.
When the racers return to Valverde, they will come up against the fearsome ascent to Peñas Blancas, Angliru de Valverde and El Manzanito. The toughest part of the stage will be a concentrated series of trails and ramps, an uphill difference in level of 1,000 metres in the last 30 km of the stage to reach Valverde del Camino. The Queen Stage will be an epic affair; the terrain in Valverde always demands the utmost from the racers; they will have to exert every iota of strength they have left to get to the finishing line.
STAGE 4 – TIME TRIAL
Departure from the Hotel through the marina passing through the Rompido promenade and with a stretch of beach.
We cross the main road from El Portil and we head into the pine forest of El Pinar de Abajo, where we begin to tackle high-speed sections and spectacular trails that will make the 25 km fly by, and we will arrive at the finishing line repeating the last 4 kilometres of the first stage among the golf courses of the area with a smile on our lips, with the satisfaction of having overcome this second edition of the Legend of Tartessos.
